Purpleheart Comfort Style with Chrome Pen Set

Each pen is custom made and hand-turned to your specifications with a slimline pen kit and Cross pen refills. Then, it is finished with a special wax and polished until it shines. (Click on the images to see a larger view.)

You choose the type of wood, style of pen and pen set finish -- we'll create a special writing instrument just for you.

Types of Wood

Purpleheart, or peltogyne, is a dense wood from Central and South America that is bright purple when it's first cut, but dries to a deep mahogany color. 

Curly Maple Slimline with Chrome Pen Set

Curly Maple is not a specific species of maple, but instead refers to the kind of grain. It's called curly because the ripples in the pattern of the grain look as if it were curled. This type of wood is also called "fiddleback." Maple is a durable, dense wood usually blonde in color. 

Curly Koa wood is native to Hawaii has a medium to coarse texture with a beautiful grain and colors that range from a golden brown to shades of red.

Black Walnut is found in Canada and the United States. It has a medium texture and colors that range from light pale brown to dark chocolate brown. Be sure and specify if you have a shade preference when you place your order.

Your Stock

We will also make a pen out of stock that you provide. Whether you have sample from a special tree, a board from a barn or a leg from a special chair, let us know and we will do our best to create a one-of-a-kind specialty pen for you.

Pen Sets

Pen sets are available in the following metal finishes:

• Chrome - high lustre white metal plating looks great on light and medium toned woods
• Rose Gold - Copper colored finish brings out the red tones in Curly Koa and Purpleheart pens
• Antique Brass - darkened gold-toned finish with black accents
• 25kt Gold - Gold plated with "premium rack plating" and sealed with epoxy for a lasting finish.
• Black Enamel - A beautiful black low-lustre finish that makes any wood pen look elegant.

Pen Styles

We have the Slimline twist pen which is an excellent weight pen for anyone or the Comfort Pen, which is also a twist pen, but has a larger grip area which may be helpful for those with arthritis or someone who likes a larger pen. The Victorian has a dainty finger-rest that fits a lady's hand nicely.
